P urposes : Its main purpose is to look for and ask through several ways food and other absolute necessity commodities from our soociety to delive them to chanity institutions in the autonomans community of cantabria, preventing them from searching for those. It is a fight against wasting, lungry and poverty.

Yes the first one was founded in paris in 1984. others were opened later on  in belguim, spain ( barcelona ) italy ( milan) ireland, portugal, holland, great britain , poland, etc.

Is thereany interrelation an ong the european food-banks?

In 1988 the Europeans Federation of Food Banks was started (FEBA).

One of its objectives is to get food from the social Fund of the European Community.

How is ABAC related to FEBA?

ABAC is related to FEBA through the Foundation Food-Bank of Spain, created as a private institution in Madrid in 1993.

How is working a food-bank?

   1.- You  look for firms willing to deliver free all surplus that otherwise would be destroyed. Every firm puts in the market more than it sells and besides some don´t fit the quality test or some products are returned due to the containers fault. Nevertheles          all of them can be consumed.    (besides that some companies may be willing to cooperate donating their products, even if they are not surplus)

2.- Free surplus distributions are accepted from the social Fund of the European Community.

3.- Private donations are accepted. Any type of money collections are organized and all Rind of sistems are used to get food freedy and legally.

4.- Subsidies and money helps are welcome keeping so the structure of the food-bank: storing, building, freezers, weights, transport, telephone, etc, though the ordinary transport is paid by the firm donating the goods.

6.- Food is distributed free to all charities that help neened people. They are obliged to fulfils the imposed  conditions.

7.- Everithing is done by persons who lend their professional capacity and time voluntality. No money is paid at all.
